Joetsu Myoko Green Season Guide
The area from Joetsu to Myoko starts on the shores of the Sea of Japan and spreads across the mountains that rise to the south and east, ending in majestic Mt. Myoko. While the area has become especially famous for the deep snows that blanket the area in winter, the non-snow seasons have much to offer the traveler.
There is the beauty of the forests, the mountains, the ocean and streams. There are onsen hot springs, hiking and trekking trails, cycling, fishing, boating and much more to do. And the deep and interesting culture has created not only a rich cultural heritage, but also a delicious cuisine unique to the area. Seafood, mountain and cultivated vegetables, unique local beef and pork, countless saké breweries, and some of the finest rice in the entire nation.
